ARE YOU AGED 18-25? DO YOU WANT TO BECOME A PUBLISHED CHILDREN’S WRITER?
We’re offering a brand new children’s writing and professional development programme for a dynamic cohort of twelve new and exciting young writers, from diverse backgrounds, whose voices need to be heard and whose stories need to be told.
Over fourteen workshops, participants will improve their writing, develop their craft and hone their skills under the guidance of Stories Of Care’s Lead Artist, Oliver Sykes and our team of Production Assistants. Alongside guest workshops from Stories Of Care Founder Sophie Willan, Alex Wheatle MBE, Danielle Jawando and Dominic Berry.
They will be supported to create their first short story for children aged 7-12, which will be published in a vibrant anthology that is inspired by our experiences and fired by our imaginations.
The programme will also include enrichment activities, community-led events and socials.
Who we’re looking for:
We are looking for inspiring new writers, with bags of passion and ambition, who would relish the opportunity to level up the quality of their writing and develop their creative careers. As the project is inspired by the personal background of our Lead Artist, and additionally, the backgrounds of our Stories Of Care team, we are keen to ring-fence this opportunity to individuals who are ethnically and socio-economically underrepresented in the Arts; with a particular focus on young people from low-income, single parent and care-experienced backgrounds.
